BRAND, COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING SPECIALIST, WESTMEAD, DURBAN
Our client is looking for a driven, strategic, and hands-on Brand, Communications & Marketing Strategist to lead the development and execution of brand positioning and communication strategies within the construction and building materials industry. This role will ensure that global brand messaging is aligned with the technical innovation and excellence of our product portfolio — spanning infrastructure, waterproofing, and high-performance construction solutions — and translate this into focused, impactful marketing campaigns that drive market success.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Strategy & Positioning
- Develop and evolve the brand’s identity within the construction, retail and transportation industry, ensuring alignment with global guidelines and local market relevance.
- Identify market trends and customer insights to position the brand as a leader in innovation, sustainability, and reliability.
- Develop and execute comprehensive marketing strategies to drive overall brand awareness, lead generation, and customer engagement.
- Collaborate with internal teams (marketing, digital, product, sales, etc.) to align marketing initiatives with business objectives.
Marketing Campaign Development
- Support other marketing teams with campaign ideas for product launches, seasonal promotions, roadshows, webinars, trade events and contractor engagement.
- Work closely with technical and sales teams to translate product USPs into benefits-driven messaging that resonates with all customer groups (engineers, architects, contractors and project managers, key accounts, automotive, etc.)
Communications & Content
- Manage internal and external communications, including media relations, press releases, crisis comms, and executive messaging.
- Develop compelling, technically accurate content for marketing touch points (brochures, case studies, presentations, social media and websites)
- Support internal engagement initiatives, ensuring that employees are aligned with brand values and communications.
Digital Marketing & Social Media
- Lead the digital strategy across platforms including website, email marketing, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube.
- Manage content calendars, track engagement metrics, and continuously optimize strategies based on analytics and campaign performance, collaborating closely with divisional marketing teams for input and alignment.
- Oversee both the front-end and back-end management of the website, ensuring content is up to date, optimized for SEO, and effectively showcases key product ranges and solution areas.
Collaboration & Project Leadership
- Act as the brand custodian working across all departments: sales, technical, logistics, and HR.
- Present campaign strategies, plans, and KPIs to Managing Direction and Target Market Managers as required.
Requirements & Skills:
- Degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field (BCom or Honours advantageous)
- 5+ years of experience in brand and marketing strategy
- An understanding of industry dynamics and the marketing of technical products
- Exceptional copywriting, campaign planning, and storytelling skills
- Knowledge of digital marketing tools, CRM, CMS, and analytics platforms
- Able to manage multiple projects, timelines, and stakeholders under tight deadlines
- Proactive, collaborative, and resourceful with very strong attention to detail
