Job description

The Marketing and Sales Manager for Harbour House Hermanus (HHH) and Camps Bay Village (CBV) will lead the development and execution of integrated sales and marketing strategies designed to drive direct enquiries, increase website traffic, and generate qualified leads. This role includes managing and optimising the properties’ digital presence, overseeing campaign performance, and providing data-driven insights to refine future initiatives. Working closely with the broader Village N Life team, the Manager will ensure brand alignment across all touchpoints while delivering innovative campaigns that elevate visibility and boost occupancy. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, strong leadership skills, and a deep understanding of hospitality sales.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION :

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Qualification in Sales and Marketing not essential but preferred.

Applicable Qualification in Hospitality and Tourism not essential but preferred.

EXPERIENCE :

Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)

Opera PMS experience advantageous (or any other PMS)

Experience in sales strategies to maximize revenue

3-5 years’ experience in the same or similar position

Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies and programs

Previous experience in a sales-led hospitality environment is essential. Experience working within a broader marketing structure is advantageous

Strong verbal and written communication skills to clearly convey messages to clients, stakeholders, and team members. Capable of presenting ideas, proposals, and creative concepts confidently.

Market Research & Analytical Skills :

Skilled in conducting market research, analysing consumer behaviour, and interpreting data to refine strategies, identify growth opportunities, and enhance performance.

Exceptional interactive communication skills with a strong focus on active listening, client engagement, and clear message delivery. Adept at interpreting needs and conveying ideas with clarity and empathy to both clients and team members.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Product knowledge is a responsibility, not a function

Maintain knowledge of special rates / offers / promotions

Understanding of all rate structures

Focus on profile rates

Product Development

Assist with conceptualising of new hotel offers / services / facilities / programs

Drafting of manuals for operations, if required

Follow up on program performance

Identify opportunities to build on the new product

Marketing initiatives to promote a new product

Customer Relations

Maintain a high standard of customer service and excellent communication skills

Adopting a “can-do” attitude with regard to customer enquiries

Assist in investigating and resolving customer complaints

Understand our ideal customers and how they relate to our products

Encouraging repeat business through excellent customer service and inquiry handling

Promote and sell products and services

Meeting planned sales goals

Contact and manage some clients by mail, telephone, customer outings and site inspections

Attract direct guests through online marketing and advertising

Assist in identifying new avenues of business and bring in more events to the hotel

Analysis of local market trends and competitor activity

Sales calls on corporate businesses in and around the area

Build relationships and strategies with key accounts to grow business mutually

Establish the annual events calendar for the hotel / s

Database management and mining

Marketing

Market products by developing and implementing marketing and advertising campaigns

Database management

Ensure websites are regularly updated and managed, including photos, descriptions, and promotions

Complete marketing plan for TBH and CBR

Collaborate with the group marketing and production team to implement property-specific campaigns and ensure consistency with brand guidelines. Support local execution of group-driven initiatives.

Maintaining promotional materials / collateral / assets / content

Collaborations with local events and festivals

Targeting new key accounts potential for the hotel. (i.e. upcoming launches etc.)

Product Presentation

To ensure the guest experience is in line with the marketing of the product

Rates and Revenue

Actively manage business bookings, record any lost business

Assist with annual rate and budget review

Negotiate space, dates and rates to obtain booking goal while focusing on shoulder and off-season business

Monthly and weekly reports on all revenue streams

Tracking sales goals and reporting results as necessary

Guest Experience

Respond to guests’ reviews according to protocol

You are expected to be present during key times for some groups, events, and conferences. You must also remain available telephonically at all times and ensure that you can read and respond to emails without delay.
