Job description

A custodian responsible for driving short and medium-term sustainable, profitable growth at a brand level.

You will achieve this by leveraging deep consumer and shopper insights to craft brands that resonate with consumers, and by developing compelling brand plans delivered through exceptional experiences in innovation, communication, and activation daily.

This involves articulating and executing the full marketing mix for our brands.

You will collaborate with the Marketing Centres of Excellence to optimize pricing, promotions, product innovation, packaging, and marketing strategies.

Top Accountabilities

  1. Develop an annual agency brief outlining the communication and media strategies for each assigned brand, aligned with brand strategies and plans.
  2. Develop and implement the marketing mix elements for the assigned brands.
  3. Manage and coordinate marketing communication programs for each brand by liaising with advertising and research agencies to effectively position the brands and meet profit expectations.
  4. Develop and oversee brand promotional activities and coordinate with General Sales Managers for implementation.
  5. Prepare reports, including the Group Executive Committee Report for the Marketing Director and the Board Package, as per Delta's instructions.
  6. Conduct research on each brand's unique character and relevance through the Marketing Services Manager to maintain demand and competitiveness.
  7. Ensure satisfactory performance of each brand and packaging, including periodic assessments of product presentation, size, and design.
  8. Conduct retail audits to ensure advertising messages and images are current, reporting results in writing to the Marketing Manager and sharing copies with Sales & Distribution Executives.
  9. Administer the Delta procurement contract with brand agencies.

Requirements :

  • Matric
  • A qualification in Business Studies, Marketing, or similar
  • SAP Experience
  • 4 years of marketing field experience
  • 2-3 years in a similar FMCG sector role
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and produce accurate results
  • Independent work ethic with sound judgment and initiative
  • Systematic, hands-on, and innovative approach to work
  • Well-rounded consumer goods experience, including Marketing and Customer roles
  • Consumer obsession and insights-driven mindset to understand and leverage consumer behavior for strategy and decision-making
  • Strategic and financial acumen to grow categories and manage trade-offs
  • Cross-functional team management skills

Brand Management and Cycle Planning Experience

A proven track record in creating conditions for team success; candidates should excel in coaching and people management.

Strong skills in managing external environments, acting as the company's face in large markets.

Strategic ability to reframe business and develop plans to outperform competitors.

Translate insights into clear & compelling Brand Plans, including Category Strategy, Pricing & Channel Strategy, Promotions, and Innovation to achieve growth targets.

Identify and develop insight-driven innovations and renovations that add value to the brand and category, including product and packaging solutions, trade strategies, and consumer communications.

Partner with the Consumer Insights team to generate relevant insights from various sources.

Lead creative agencies through the Communication Strategy process, culminating in campaign approval and execution consistency with brand blueprints.

Ensure the execution of key brand management tasks such as S&OP forecasting, media planning, promotion tracking, investment management, quality and brand health tracking, and range management.

Foster collaborative and inspirational management with cross-functional teams, customers, and the broader business community.
