POSITION PURPOSE
The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for developing, recommending, implementing the Centre’s marketing programs, reports, strategies, and administration, including financial aspects. Performs regular marketing research at least once a year. Oversees customer relations, including public relations, and ensures that the company’s professional reputation is projected and maintained. Keeps abreast of marketing trends; attends meetings and functions related to the successful management of the marketing department. Keeps senior management well informed of activities and significant problems. Ensures quick response to Centre management approval of non-GLA income opportunities. Checks monthly income against actuals. Drives awareness of leasing and non-GLA opportunities. Manages fact sheets and updates on digital platforms. Prepares, submits, and strives to win national (Footprint) and international (Solal) awards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
- Marketing Responsibilities
- Conceptualize and implement marketing strategies for shopping centres.
- Assist with implementing brand strategy across all platforms.
- Manage tenant and customer relations, including public relations.
- Document, control, and monitor branded rewards stock levels, products, or services for events/campaigns.
- Monitor local publications, social media, tenant advertising, and community opportunities.
- Draft monthly and ad hoc marketing reports and tenant communications.
- Coordinate marketing campaigns, events, advertising, exhibitions, and Facebook giveaways.
- Schedule and organize tenant and marketing meetings.
- Provide general support to Centre Management, including adhoc reception duties when short-staffed.
- Income and Expenses Responsibilities
- Support the National Marketing Manager and third-party service providers to maximize non-GLA income.
- Ensure monthly and annual expenses align with strategies and budgets.
- Maintain customer database and ensure regular communication.
- Provide exhibitor information to security and management.
- Build relationships with current exhibitors and advertisers.
- Manage income and debtors, including quotes, invoicing, collections, and debtor control following ISO standards.
- Handle expenses, including supplier management, quotes, purchase orders, invoices, and payments.
- Prepare weekly and monthly income and expense reports.
- Respond to sales requirements from existing and potential clients.
- Other Duties
- Ensure work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Complete special projects as assigned.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION
Matric; a marketing or PR diploma/certificate preferred; secretarial certificate advantageous.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
Understanding of marketing, advertising, public relations, media; sales and promotion techniques; word processing and spreadsheet applications.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Minimum two years in a marketing environment.
