Marketing And Sales Manager – Strata Control Products

Location : Gauteng, South Africa (with extensive remote work and travel across sub-Saharan Africa)

Industry : Mining Strata Control & Underground Roof Support

Salary : 1.4m pa CTC

Job Summary :

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Marketing and Sales Manager to drive the sales and marketing strategy for our strata control products in the mining sector across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa. This is a hands-on role requiring both strategic leadership and direct customer management.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Sales & Business Development : Identify and develop new business opportunities for strata control products, expanding our customer base in the mining industry.
2. Customer Relationship Management : Directly manage a portfolio of key clients while mentoring and supporting the sales team in handling other accounts.
3. Marketing Strategy & Execution : Develop and implement targeted marketing campaigns to position our products effectively in the mining sector.
4. Technical Consultation : Provide technical advice and product demonstrations to clients, showcasing the benefits of our strata control solutions.
5. Team Leadership : Lead and mentor the sales team, setting sales targets, tracking performance, and providing strategic guidance.
6. Industry Networking : Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including mining engineers, procurement teams, and decision-makers.
7. Market Analysis & Strategy Development : Conduct market research to understand customer needs, competitor activities, and industry trends.
8. Travel : Be prepared to travel extensively within South Africa and across sub-Saharan Africa to visit clients and support the sales team.

Required Qualifications & Experience :

1. Educational Background : Bachelor’s degree in Marketing; or, Bachelor’s degree in Rock Engineering, Mining, Geotechnical or other Engineering discipline with a post graduate diploma in Marketing.
2. Industry Experience : Experience in the underground mining sector. Experience in underground roof support and strata control solutions would be beneficial.
3. Sales & Marketing Expertise : Proven track record in sales, business development, and marketing. Sales and marketing expertise within the mining industry would be beneficial.
4. Technical Proficiency : Ability to engage with mining professionals, understand technical challenges, and offer appropriate solutions.
5. Leadership & Team Management : Experience in leading and managing a sales team, setting goals, and driving performance.
6. Communication & Negotiation Skills : Strong ability to communicate effectively with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
7. Willingness to Travel : Must be prepared to travel extensively across South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
