Job summary
South African Environmental Observation Network (SAEON) invites applicants for the role of Marine Resource Management Specialist in Port Elizabeth. The candidate will oversee marine ecosystem assessments, biodiversity monitoring, and the development of coastal resource management plans.
Strong collaboration with communities and government agencies is required to implement conservation initiatives. Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Marine Biology and 3–5 years
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or Marine Biology.
- 3–5 years of experience in marine conservation or environmental management.
- Experience with coastal ecosystem projects is advantageous.
Responsibilities
- Conduct marine ecosystem assessments and biodiversity monitoring.
- Develop sustainable resource management plans for coastal regions.
- Collaborate with local communities and government agencies on conservation projects.
- Analyze environmental data to inform policy recommendations.
- Lead field research and coordinate with interdisciplinary teams.
