Placements24 is seeking a strategic and results-driven Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead its Bloemfontein facility. This senior role oversees production, quality, safety and cost management while shaping operational strategies to improve efficiency and profitability.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years of manufacturing operations experience, at least 5 in a senior leadership role, and a proven track record with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field.
MBA or Master’s degree is a plus.
10+ years in manufacturing operations with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Proven track record in cost reduction, quality improvements, and lean/Six Sigma.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations and meet safety, quality, productivity, and cost targets.
Develop and implement strategic plans to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
Manage department budgets and optimize resource allocation.
Lead and develop production managers and supervisors to a high-performance culture.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a strategic and results-driven Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead their facility in Bloemfontein . This senior role is responsible for the overall performance of the manufacturing operations, including production, quality, safety, and cost management. You will develop and implement operational strategies, manage departmental budgets, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and high performance among your teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in managing large-scale manufacturing operations, a deep understanding of operational excellence principles, and a proven ability to drive efficiency and profitability in a competitive industrial landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring targets for safety, quality, productivity, and cost are met or exceeded.
Develop and implement strategic plans to improve operational efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance overall competitiveness.
Manage departmental budgets, controlling expenditures and optimizing resource allocation.
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of production managers and supervisors, fostering a high-performance culture.
Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
Drive the implementation of lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives across the facility.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related business field.

Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in manufacturing operations management , with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
Demonstrated success in driving operational improvements, cost reduction, and quality enhancements.

Excellent leadership, strategic planning, and financial management skills.
