Job description

Organizational Leadership and Strategy Development

Drives overall strategic planning and implementation of supportive structures and functions at Ezintsha to ensure the achievement of the organization's mission and goals. Leads and manages operations, liaises with WHC and other shared organizational functions, and engages critical support stakeholders.

Key Performance Areas
  1. Strategy Development and Implementation

Assist the Executive Director and Senior Team in shaping and implementing the organization's vision, strategy, and plans. Drive the development, documentation, and execution of Ezintsha's overarching strategy, annual performance, operational plans, and business unit plans with input from the Senior Team. Monitor the environment to ensure policies, processes, and functions are aligned and effective in delivering the organizational mission and vision. Ensure alignment of business plans with Ezintsha's strategic vision. Review and develop standard operating procedures to align with strategy.

  1. Cohesive Organizational Management

Build and lead the operational management team to oversee daily functions. Oversee operations, HR, relationships with WHC, and other shared functions. Ensure organizational structure supports strategic goals. Foster relationships among senior managers, stakeholders, and staff. Drive change management and implement corrective actions. Support marketing, outreach, and financial sustainability initiatives. Provide expert advice on technical and process topics. Manage organizational risks and ensure they are mitigated.

  1. Monitoring & Evaluation (M&E) and Planning

Participate in developing and implementing an M&E framework. Evaluate operational effectiveness and improve efficiency. Ensure each portfolio develops operational plans aligned with organizational strategy. Oversee implementation, monitoring, and reporting of strategic and operational plans. Develop processes for managing external relationships.

  1. People Management

Ensure effective oversight and communication to maintain a motivated workforce. Manage programs, activities, and events. Provide guidance, set performance standards, and monitor staff development. Promote trust and cooperation. Lead operational capabilities to enhance customer satisfaction. Chair meetings and manage budgets with the Head of Finance. Support organizational governance and ensure compliance with legislation, preparing reports for management. Maintain relationships with donors and external stakeholders.

Minimum Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree in Leadership, Management, Governance, or equivalent experience.
  • At least five years in executive leadership roles, managing operations and finances of a medium-sized organization.
  • Experience with governance structures, donor-funded environments, or research/academic settings is advantageous.
