Managing Director (ISP Industry) required in Roodepoort.
The Managing Director is responsible for leading and executing the Fibre-to-the-Home (FTTH) strategy, including growth and profitability targets within a competitive consumer internet environment.
The role focuses on expanding market share, optimising operational performance, and delivering shareholder value by leveraging existing ICT infrastructure and fixed-mobile platforms.
This position combines high-level strategy, hands-on operations, cross-functional collaboration, and stakeholder engagement across regulatory, commercial, and internal units. It requires a dynamic and experienced leader with a proven ability to drive digital innovation and business transformation.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Growth
- Develop and lead the FTTH strategy aligned with long-term group objectives.
- Drive revenue and profit growth through aggressive retention, upselling, and acquisition strategies.
- Collaborate with relevant business units (e.g., Postpaid, Home BU, Technology) to ensure effective execution of the broader home strategy.
- Provide input into product life cycles and innovation roadmaps to enhance competitiveness.
- Maintain awareness of local market shifts and international best practices.
Operational Delivery & Commercial Performance
- Oversee execution of business plans, pricing models, and product initiatives to achieve revenue and subscriber targets.
- Ensure operational efficiencies through lean cost models and strong ROI forecasting.
- Implement competitive pricing and product strategies to reduce churn and increase market share.
- Ensure effective use of fixed-mobile infrastructure to drive product and service delivery excellence.
Financial & Budget Management
- Forecast and manage budgets aligned to strategic priorities.
- Optimise cost-to-revenue ratios and manage operational budgets to ensure financial sustainability.
- Ensure profitability through performance monitoring and data-driven decision-making.
Collaboration & Governance
- Drive collaboration across commercial, technology, and business intelligence units to deliver an integrated value proposition.
- Maintain close alignment with regulatory authorities and ensure full compliance with operational and statutory requirements.
- Oversee outsourcing relationships and service level agreements (SLAs) with external partners.
People & Culture Leadership
- Lead and inspire a high-performing team culture rooted in accountability, innovation, and performance.
- Create and implement development plans and succession strategies for emerging leaders.
- Model inclusive leadership and embed transformation, diversity, and equity goals.
- Promote a healthy, high-performance work culture and act as an ambassador for brand values and behaviours.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Commerce, or a related field.
- MBA or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline (preferred).
- Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in a telecoms or ISP environment, including at least
- 5 years in a senior management or executive role.
- Experience leading business units within highly regulated sectors.
- Proven success in startup launches, business turnarounds, or market expansion.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and large-scale transformation projects.
