Job description

We are looking for a MD that's able to lead and manage a Groups investment companies to ensure achievement of objectives.

Your :

  1. Formal Education: Relevant degree in business management or finance, preferably complemented with an investment management qualification;
  2. Experience: At least 12 years relevant experience in the financial services industry;
  3. Critical Competencies: Technical competency a broad understanding of all areas of management, including knowledge of investment management, finance, legal, regulatory, marketing and communication, strategic planning, human resources and information technology;
  4. Knowledge of commercial law and other legislation relevant to the companys area of business;
  5. Ability to multitask and delegate;
  6. Teamwork and collaboration;
  7. Superb management, leadership and motivational skills;
  8. Sharp commercial and strategic thinking.

You will enable you to :

Processes :

  1. Execute the responsibilities of a Managing Director according to lawful and ethical standards;
  2. Effectively manage the human capital of the division according to authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations;
  3. Identify, develop and direct the implementation of the divisions strategy;
  4. Plan and direct the divisions activities to achieve stated / agreed targets and standards;
  5. Oversee the investment philosophy and process across the range of investment solutions offered by the division;
  6. Maintain and develop organizational culture, values and reputation in its markets and with all staff, contractors, advisors, clients, suppliers, partners and regulatory / official bodies;
  7. Report to WRI CEO on organizational plans and performance, with a specific focus on consolidation and co-operation;
  8. Analyze and develop distribution channels;
  9. In conjunction with the National Executive: Finance, maintain the divisions financial performance;
  10. In conjunction with the Group Marketing and Sales division and other companies within the WRI cluster and group, maintain existing and develop new products and solutions, as and when required;
  11. In conjunction with Group Marketing and Sales division, plan marketing, advertising and promotional campaigns;
  12. In conjunction with Group Marketing and Sales division, plan and develop sales activities;
  13. Recruit, select and develop subordinate team members;
  14. Ensure sustainable succession planning throughout the division.

Technology :

  1. Coordinate the development, implementation, training and maintenance of the various systems and tools required by the business;
  2. Specifically ensure adherence to Group IT and IT security policies.

Finance / Growth :

  1. Prepare annual budget for division and prudently manage companys resources within those budget guidelines;
  2. Monitor and report on divisions operational and financial performance on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Marketing :

  1. Identify areas where opportunities exist for business expansion.

Drive business negotiations and liaison process.

Regulatory :

  1. Comply with the fit and proper requirements as prescribed in FAIS;
  2. Licensed as a Key Individual for all category II products;
  3. Absolute focus on the fair treatment of clients;
  4. Ensure compliance (to the extent applicable) with FAIS, FICA, POPIA and any other relevant pieces of legislation or regulations applicable to the companys area of expertise;
  5. Liaise and co-operate with the Group compliance function on a continuous basis.
