Your qualifications include:

  • Formal Education: Relevant degree in business management or finance, preferably with an investment management qualification.
  • Experience: At least 12 years in the financial services industry, with experience in both investment and management.
  • Critical Competencies: Technical knowledge across management areas including investment, finance, legal, regulatory, marketing, strategic planning, HR, and IT; understanding of commercial law; multitasking and delegation skills; teamwork; leadership and motivational skills; strategic thinking; problem-solving; analytical skills; excellent communication skills.

This role will enable you to:

  • People: Lead, motivate, and mentor teams; advocate policies; implement employment policies; manage division as a cohesive team.
  • Processes: Execute MD responsibilities ethically; manage human capital; develop and implement division strategy; oversee investment philosophy; maintain organizational culture and reputation; report to CEO; analyze distribution channels; coordinate with finance, marketing, and sales divisions; recruit and develop staff; ensure succession planning.
  • Technology: Coordinate system development and maintenance; ensure IT security and compliance.
  • Finance/Growth: Prepare budgets; monitor financial performance; identify expansion opportunities; lead negotiations.
  • Regulatory: Ensure compliance with FAIS, FICA, POPIA; maintain licensing; prioritize client fair treatment; liaise with compliance functions.
