The Position

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior leader to take on a strategic Managing Director role, based in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Reporting directly to the CEO and Board of Directors, the successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the South African business operations, driving sustainable growth, managing key stakeholder relationships, and ensuring operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic leadership and direction to the South African business unit
  2. Develop and implement business strategies to drive growth and profitability
  3. Manage and mentor divisional leadership teams
  4. Build and maintain relationships with key clients, suppliers, and industry partners
  5. Oversee financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L management
  6. Ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards
  7. Collaborate with the global leadership team on international initiatives
  8. Represent the company in industry forums and events
  9. Drive innovation and continuous improvement across the organization
Requirements
Required Qualifications and Experience
  1. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or related field
  2. Minimum 10 years of senior management experience in chemical distribution, coatings, logistics, adhesives, automotive industries, or construction sectors
  3. Proven track record of strategic leadership and business growth
  4. Strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting and financial analysis
  5. Excellent strategic thinking, analytical and problem-solving abilities
  6. Exceptional relationship building and networking skills
  7. Knowledge of the South African market and business environment
  8. Experience managing diverse teams and fostering a positive company culture
  9. Fluent in English
