Managing Director - Travel & Tourism / Logistics

Our client is a well-established travel & tourism company operating across South Africa, providing premium support services to the luxury hospitality and tourism sector. Their clientele includes top-tier hotels, lodges, and destination management companies. With an entrepreneurial spirit and strong growth ambitions, the company is poised for its next phase of expansion. We are looking for a seasoned executive to take the reins as Managing Director and drive strategic and operational excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the company’s overall strategic direction, translating vision into actionable plans that deliver measurable growth.
  • Oversee and align operations, sales, marketing, and client service teams to ensure delivery of exceptional service to premium hospitality clients.
  • Drive business development initiatives, building and nurturing relationships within the luxury hospitality, hotel, and tourism sectors.
  • Champion client retention and account growth strategies, with direct oversight of key accounts and partnerships.
  • Guide the company through corporate transitions, succession planning, and long-term strategic development.
  • Provide strong leadership and foster a high-performance culture across all levels of the organisation.
  • Collaborate with the Chairman and executive team to identify new markets and growth opportunities in B2B logistics and hospitality services.

Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to establish and grow high-value client relationships across the travel, tourism, and hospitality industries, driving long-term partnership and commercial success
  • High EQ and leadership maturity, with the ability to build trust and inspire high-performing teams.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, ideally with a focus on logistics, transport, or service delivery into the hotel and tourism sector.
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role, with a proven track record of scaling operations and growing a business.
  • Demonstrated experience in B2B sales and marketing, with a strong ability to identify opportunities and drive revenue growth.
  • Deep understanding of the South African luxury hospitality landscape, with established industry relationships.
  • Proven experience managing through corporate transitions, mergers, or succession planning.
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Educational Requirements:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Logistics, or Hospitality is preferred.

This role requires daily on-site presence in Cape Town. Applicants must be based in the Western Cape or willing to relocate.
