A prominent company in the mining, aggregates, and agricultural sectors is currently seeking a highly motivated Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced senior financial professional to take ownership of financial strategy, planning, and leadership within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the CEO and the Board of Directors, the CFO will play a critical role in driving financial direction and ensuring the company's financial health and growth.
Duties:
- Develop and execute the company's financial strategy to align with long-term business objectives.
- Provide strategic recommendations to the CEO and Board based on detailed financial analysis and forecasting.
- Drive sustainable growth through cost optimization initiatives and revenue enhancement strategies.
- Oversee the preparation and monitoring of budgets, long-term financial plans, and cash flow management.
- Ensure robust financial modeling, scenario planning, and variance analysis to support operational efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations, tax laws, and corporate governance.
- Coordinate external audits and maintain transparent financial reporting.
- Lead risk management strategies to mitigate financial risks and ensure adequate insurance coverage.
- Analyze financial performance metrics and collaborate with operations teams to improve financial outcomes.
- Secure funding for capital-intensive mining projects through debt, equity, or partnerships.
- Evaluate investment opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, to support business expansion.
- Prepare and present comprehensive financial reports to the Board, investors, and stakeholders.
- Build and maintain relationships with banks, investors, and regulatory authorities.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, fostering a high-performing culture and continuous improvement.
Qualifications & Skills:
- A Chartered Accountant (CA(SA)) or equivalent professional qualification is essential.
- A Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
- At least 5 years of senior financial management experience, with a proven track record in managing complex projects.
- Strong proficiency in financial modeling, ERP systems, and advanced Excel.
- In-depth understanding of cost accounting principles and project financing.
- Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and leadership skills.
- Strong communication abilities, with the capacity to engage effectively with diverse teams.
- High level of integrity, ethical judgment, and commitment to corporate social responsibility.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
- Fluency in Afrikaans and English is required.
- Willingness to travel to mining sites as necessary.
