Job Title: Manager: Regulatory Compliance

Job Location: Gauteng, Centurion

Overview

The Manager of Regulatory Compliance is responsible for overseeing the implementation of policies, legislation, and strategies related to compliance within the organization. This role involves ensuring legal and policy procedures are appropriate, developing operational standards, and managing the regulatory compliance framework.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Oversee Regulation:
  • Ensure the consistent application of policies, legislation, and strategy implementation.
  • Review legal, policy, and strategic requirements with other departments.
  • Develop operational standards and monitor trends and requirements.
  • Implement and oversee the regulatory compliance framework.
  • Manage activities related to legislative processes.
  • Oversee Compliance:
    • Maintain the compliance management system and ensure alignment with legislation.
    • Prepare compliance reports for senior management, the Council, Auditor General, etc., including deviations and corrective actions.
    • Monitor the effectiveness of compliance programs and improve them as needed.
    • Manage relationships with service providers and government departments regarding system issues and improvements.
    • Handle transgressions within a regulated process.
  • Operational Planning:
    • Contribute to the development of unit plans and strategic documents.
    • Develop forecasting models and ensure policy and procedural development and implementation.
  • Risk and Financial Management:
    • Identify and manage risks within the area of responsibility.
    • Oversee budgeting, monitoring, and reporting processes.
    • Ensure procurement processes comply with supply chain policies.
    • Manage assets and evaluate financial implications of proposals.
    • Prepare and control the budget, monitor expenditures, and ensure compliance with PFMA.
  • People Management:
    • Manage subordinate performance according to organizational policies.
    • Develop and implement Personal Development Plans.
    • Address disciplinary issues as necessary.
    • Foster interaction across departments.

    Job Requirements

    • Educational Qualification: Minimum qualification in law (NQF 8) or related field.
    • Experience: At least 6 years in regulatory compliance, preferably in construction or related industries, with 2 years in a middle managerial role managing compliance programs and audits.
