Role Purpose / Business Unit:
- To support the Managing Executive of Risk, Regulatory and Compliance with the implementation and management of key compliance initiatives by enhancing and maintaining existing controls within the financial services division, specifically related to insurance, payments, lending, and banking products and services.
- The role also provides general day-to-day support in managing stakeholders and their respective business needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring and advising on pending, anticipated, and new legislation impacting the business.
- Assisting in the preparation of business risk and privacy impact assessments.
- Ensuring compliance with current regulatory environments, internal policies, and contractual agreements.
- Conducting legal research, providing legal opinions, and interpreting laws as they relate to the company's operations.
- Developing Terms and Conditions for new products.
- Preparing and vetting legal documents and agreements in collaboration with the Vodacom Group Legal division.
- Managing timely renegotiation and renewal of contracts, and engaging with service providers to oversee risk and compliance.
- Coordinating engagements with industry regulators.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the ME: Risk, Regulatory and Compliance.
Stakeholder management:
- Responding to internal and external complaints.
- Engaging with internal project support and business stakeholders.
- Implementing and enhancing compliance training and awareness programs.
- Fostering a compliance culture and embedding compliance principles within the organization.
- Analyzing and tracking regulatory changes and assessing their impact on business processes.
Job Knowledge:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven legal, compliance, and contract negotiation experience, especially in financial services.
- Understanding of Technology Law, Payment Services, Privacy, Outsourcing, Insurance, Lending, and Investment laws in South Africa.
- Experience interacting with regulators.
- Background in law firms or multinational companies preferred.
- Ability to build trust, guide teams, and work in a fast-paced environment.
