Role Purpose / Business Unit :
To support the Managing Executive of Risk, Regulatory and Compliance with the implementation and management of key compliance initiatives by enhancing and maintaining the existing controls within the financial services division, specifically related to insurance, payments, lending, and banking products and services. The role will also provide general day-to-day support in stakeholder management and addressing the needs of respective business units.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Interfacing, monitoring, and advising on pending, anticipated, and new legislation and bills affecting the business.
- Assisting in the preparation of business risk and privacy impact assessments.
- Supporting the Risk, Regulatory and Compliance team in ensuring compliance with current regulations, internal policies, and contractual agreements in line with an internal compliance plan.
- Sourcing reference materials, conducting legal research, and providing legal opinions on laws as they relate to the company's operations.
- Assisting in developing Terms and Conditions for new products.
- Preparing, vetting, and facilitating the execution of legal documents in collaboration with the Vodacom Group Legal division.
- Creating mechanisms for timely renegotiation and renewal of contracts, engaging with outsourced service providers to oversee risk and compliance levels.
- Coordinating engagements with industry regulators.
- Performing other duties as assigned by the ME : Risk, Regulatory and Compliance.
Stakeholder management
- Analyzing and responding to internal and external complaints.
- Engaging with internal project support and business stakeholders.
- Implementing compliance training and awareness programs.
- Assisting management in embedding compliance principles and creating new communication mediums to enhance awareness.
Regulatory analysis related to the financial services division.
- Tracking and analyzing changes to laws and regulations.
- Assessing impact on business processes and systems.
Job Knowledge :
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Proven legal, compliance, and contract negotiation experience, especially in financial services.
- Understanding of Technology Law as it applies to financial services.
- Knowledge of laws and regulations related to payment services, privacy, outsourcing, insurance, lending, and investments in South Africa.
- Ability to interact with regulators.
- Experience in law firms or multinational companies.
- Ability to build trust and maintain mutual respect with stakeholders.
- Ability to guide professionals and collaborate across departments.
- Multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
- Results-driven, proactive, responsible, and ethical with a passion for regulatory matters.
