Position Overview
This position will take full responsibility of two large projects that are currently in Pre-feasibility study (PFS) phases. On the successful completion of the PFS phase, these projects will proceed, subject to approval, to the Feasibility study and Detailed Design phases.
On completion of the Detailed Design phases this position will play an active role in the Execution phases of these multiyear large capital projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Take ownership of all aspects of project activities to ensure successful completion of the project, including zero harm to any project stakeholder or the environment, as per approved scope, time and budget.
- Ensuring Health and Safety standards are incorporated into the design and practiced amongst all project stakeholders at all times.
- Progress measurements / feedback.
- Reports to the Principal Project Manager.
Qualifications & Experience
- Applicable B Eng, BSc (Eng) or B Tech degree, NQF Level 8.
- Computer literate – MS Office and MS Projects.
- Code B driver’s license.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience on large multiyear projects in a heavy industrial or mining environment.
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Project Manager managing Feasibility Studies, Detailed Design and project Execution activities.
- A Project Management qualification will be advantageous.
- Experience in Primavera Unifier, Primavera P6, and Aconex software will be advantageous.
- Government Certificate of Competency (Mining or Factories) will be advantageous.

- Excellent knowledge of project management processes based on PMBOK methodology.
- Strong leadership and mentorship skills to lead the project team to project success.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills.
- An excellent track record in setting and achieving project objectives.
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills.
- Excellent financial, report writing and stakeholder management skills.
- Personal attributes required: Confident, tenacious, innovative, self-motivated, responsible, team worker, adaptable, analytically able, client oriented, pro-active and strongly oriented towards excellence in project management.
- Drive for results, strong interpersonal, leadership and organizational skills.
- Should be able to work under pressure.
