Job description

We are seeking to hire a Manager: National Operations to join our leadership team. You will oversee providing inspired leadership for the operation of one of our organisation's lines of business, which involves making important policies and strategic decisions to manage operational risks within funeral services, as well as the development and implementation of operational policies and procedures.

You will be expected, under the guidance of the General Manager: Funeral Service, to grow the repatriation tombstone business, crematoria / aquamation centres, and expand the company's footprint thereof. You will also ensure that the business has sufficient resources to grow and to meet customer needs.

Your responsibilities will include collaboration on strategic planning and day-to-day execution, ensuring seamless operations, exceptional customer experiences, and consistent adherence to company standards, thereby supporting the General Manager: Funeral Service in operational execution.

Your Responsibilities Will Include the Following:
  1. Collaborate with senior leadership to provide input and ideas for strategy development and implement national operational strategies aligned with business goals.
  2. Operations Management
  3. Expansion and new agency openings / crematoria and aquamation centres
  4. Enhancement of customer experience
  5. Resource Management
  6. Human Resource Management
  7. Technology integration by ensuring that agencies and staff are trained in new tools and processes, and exploring and implementing solutions to enhance operational efficiency
  8. Financial Management of own area of focus
  9. Compliance and Risk management
  10. Assist the General Manager with the management of risk within the departments and compliance with all relevant policies and legislations
Requirements
  • A degree or equivalent
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint)
  • Well-developed commercial acumen
  • A strong background in business development, operations management, and logistics will be beneficial
  • 10 years and above supervisory and operational management experience
  • A sound understanding of practical experience in business development
  • A good understanding of financial management, budgeting, cost management, and financial reporting

Additional qualifications include a degree or equivalent, proficiency in MS Office Suite, well-developed commercial acumen, and extensive supervisory experience. Key skills required are anti-money laundering, machine shop, B2C, account management, bus driving, and administration support.
