Job summary

Valterra Platinum, a leading PGM producer, seeks a Band 5 Mining Leader to oversee Safety & Health for mine operations. The role reports to the Senior General Manager and requires extensive mining experience and licensure.

Based at Mototolo Der Brochen, the position focuses on safe, efficient planning, costing, and performance delivery. The successful candidate will drive compliance with mandatory safety standards, coordinate with Corporate and Technical Services, and lead cross-functional teams

Qualifications

• Mining degree or diploma and/or Mine Managers Certificate of Competence.
• Blasting Certificate required.
• Valid driver’s license code 08.

Responsibilities

• Oversee application of Safety & Health principles across all discipline interactions.
• Ensure zero harm and prevent fatalities through personal safety accountability.
• Develop discipline-specific plans to reduce risk exposure.
• Monitor effectiveness of Safety & Health systems at site level.
• Contribute inputs to Life of Asset Plan and Resource Development Plan.
• Break down group targets to concrete site budgets and communicate to teams.

Job Description

Key responsibilities of this role are:

• Oversee consistent application of Safety & Health principles in all discipline interactions and take
• personal responsibility for safety of self and others to ensure zero harm and elimination of fatalities.
• Develop discipline-specific plans/systems to reduce exposure to discipline-specific risks.
• Monitor and ensure effectiveness of discipline Safety & Health systems.
• Provide Mining-specific information as input to the development of the Life of Asset Plan and the
• Resource Development Plan.
• Break down Group requirements and performance targets to site level, translate into site-specifictargets and budgets and communicate to on-site teams
• Review and sign off technical plans and production inputs for budgets and the MOPprocess, ensuring they are based on sound logic with appropriate stretch and actionableplanned improvements.
• Work with Corporate/ BU/Technical Services to develop and implement plans to optimizeextraction, material movement and grade management.
• Challenge and support Mining Planning and Technical design and outputs in ensuring mineplans, technical functions and schedules provide inputs to support safe and efficient miningoperations.
• Establish effective communication and feedback processes for Mining teams and keystakeholder groups to ensure people are informed and aware of business objectives,performance and direction in a timely and routine manner.
• Manage process and costs to ensure the Mining teams set and deliver the annual budgetand production targets safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
• Develop cost awareness within Mining discipline and focus on reducing all process waste
• Work closely, collaborate proactively and resolve issues jointly with Processing to aligntonnage to fragmentation/volume/grade targets and with AS&R to align equipmentavailability targets, fixed plan infrastructure operational reliability programs.
• Lead compliance of the discipline with external (legislative, regulatory, permitting) localrequirements as a minimum level of site performance.
• Ensure compliance with Anglo American requirements within discipline on site.
• Development requires compliance governance for discipline.

This role is at Band 5 level reporting to the Senior General Manager.
