Description Of The Role And Purpose Of The Job

We have an exciting opportunity to join our business unit, as we are looking to fill a Manager position in our Credit Risk Solutions (CRS) team. We are a specialist function within BDO’s Advisory Practice, primarily assisting clients with developing and reviewing complex statistical models used to quantify financial risks. The CRS team comprises credit risk modellers and analysts from diverse quantitative backgrounds, including mathematics, statistics, engineering, and actuarial sciences.

As a Manager, you will play a technical role in auditing and developing credit risk models (such as IFRS9, scorecards, etc.), and support Associate Directors with project planning, organization, and quality control. The role offers exposure to a wide array of modelling techniques used by banks, from smaller local credit providers to globally systemically important banks. It also provides opportunities to work with the latest technologies, enhancing your coding skills in packages like Python, R, and SAS.

Key Responsibilities
  • Development and review of credit risk models for provisioning and regulatory capital requirements
  • Supporting project management through planning, execution, and closure phases
  • Assisting with coding and automating financial risk management models
  • Contributing to a coaching culture that empowers team members to speak up and challenge when appropriate
Skills And Attributes Required For The Role
  • Relevant experience in a quantitative credit risk role
  • Proficiency in contemporary statistical techniques and credit risk modelling practices
  • Ability to read, interpret, and develop software code using modern computing languages like SAS, Python, or R
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proven experience managing and delivering small workstreams
  • Experience in managing teams, coaching, and mentoring junior staff
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with conflicting priorities
  • Good presentation and communication skills, capable of articulating complex quantitative concepts to diverse audiences
Minimum Requirements
  • Honours or Masters degree in a quantitative discipline such as Quantitative Finance, Mathematics, Statistics, or equivalent; FRM certification is advantageous
  • At least three (3) years of experience in credit risk
