Job description

Drive the implementation of Security management policies, governance processes, procedures, standards, legal compliance, and risk management. Lead appropriate governance structures to ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), PSIRA, ISPS Code, and security-related regulations. Oversee the Security contracting process for both Opex and Capex, ensuring effective management and compliance with budgetary and operational requirements.

Assist and provide governance support and expertise to the Division’s Security Management function. Ensure execution of training related to policies, governance, compliance, and risk management. Ensure compliance with Transnet’s Security policy, governance, compliance, and risk management frameworks at the Division. Help create a climate conducive to robust security governance frameworks within the Division via Security structures, specifically the Governance Centre of Excellence (Gov COE).

Position Outputs
  1. Compliance Governance: Admin function ensuring adherence to all security compliance policies and regulations across the organization. Responsible for monitoring compliance initiatives, conducting audits, and providing guidance on compliance issues to maintain high ethical standards and reduce security risks.
  2. Group Interface: Acts as a bridge between departments and stakeholders to ensure strategic alignment and enhance collaboration for improved efficiency and effectiveness.
  3. Contracts Management: Oversees development, negotiation, and management of security contracts, ensuring legal and organizational compliance, minimizing risks, and maximizing opportunities.
  4. Assurance Management: Establishes security assurance processes, monitors performance metrics, conducts reviews, and recommends improvements to enhance operational excellence.
  5. Engages with internal and external stakeholders, including Risk and Compliance, ERM BCM, and the Department of Transport.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, preferably with postgraduate business or legal qualification.
  • 6-8 years’ management experience in Security Governance, with at least 3 years at managerial or specialist level.
  • Code 08 driver’s license.
  • Security clearance to Secret level (or in progress).
  • ISPS Code certification, PSIRA registration.
  • Clear criminal record.
