SUMMARY:

POSITION INFO:

An exciting opportunity exists for a dynamic individual to fulfil the role of Manager: Commercial Industry Affairs. The incumbent has a responsibility to build and maintain industry stakeholder relationships and to take responsibility for logistical affairs, commercial insights, and related table grape industry matters. Key stakeholders will include exporters, logistics providers and producers based across South Africa’s five table grape growing regions. The successful candidate will be responsible to proactively identify and manage the execution of opportunities that can add value to SATI members and the broader industry. This includes leveraging data and commercial insights to create relevant industry information & communication outputs and contributing to SATI’s commercialisation strategy. Furthermore, the incumbent will ensure that operational information systems and/or databases are efficient, effective, and functional.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with relevant role-players across the table grape value chain
  • Manage relevant and real-time industry data, information, and intelligence
  • Ensure effective and functional information systems and databases (e.g. AgriHub, e-Certification, Phytclean registration, SPS monitoring, vine census, etc.)
  • Professional and effective management of relevant service level agreements
  • Professional service delivery to internal portfolios and external stakeholders regarding commercial insights
  • Research and report on general market intelligence
  • Represent SATI on relevant industry networking events, committees, and meetings
  • Management of logistical affairs impacting the industry
  • Collect, analyse, interpret, and report farm level economics data

Requirements:

  • Applicable postgraduate qualification
  • Working knowledge of business theory and/or marketing
  • Senior management experience and/or minimum 8 years’ working knowledge
  • Industry intelligence / statistical insights knowledge
  • Broad knowledge of the agricultural industry (5+ years)
  • Excellent strategic insight & application skills
  • Analytical interpretation ability (draw insights & implement accordingly)
