Job Purpose

To conduct, manage and oversee risk-based, coordinated assurance activities relating to Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Countering the Financing of Terrorism (CFT), Counter Proliferation Financing (CPF), Sanctions, and Exchange Control. The role requires that all regulatory and risk management requirements are effectively monitored, reported, and managed across the Group, thereby supporting compliance, effective risk management, supporting governance, and mitigating regulatory risk.

Job Responsibilities
  1. Provide Regulatory and Risk Assurance • Deliver independent as well as support coordinated assurance activities on the adequacy and effectiveness of AML, CFT, CPF, Sanctions, and Exchange Control risk management controls through reviews, monitoring plans, and oversight of Enterprise Risk Management Framework requirements, procedures, and systems.
  2. Conduct Risk Reviews, Oversight and Reporting in line with Coordinated assurance requirements • Perform oversight in line with annual monitoring plans, identify control gaps, highlight risks, and prepare and provide input to reports with recommendations, corrective actions, and assurance for governance forums and stakeholders.
  3. Stakeholder Engagement and Advisory • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to clarify expectations, provide feedback on review outcomes, and offer recommendations for strengthening controls and ensuring regulatory compliance and effective risk management.
  4. Corrective and Remedial Oversight • Assess the implementation of corrective or remedial actions from reviews and audits, provide pre implementation assurance closure on effectiveness, and support submissions for regulatory inspections.
  5. Team Leadership and People Management • Manage and develop the team across the HR value chain, including recruitment, performance management, retention of critical staff, succession planning, and talent development.
  6. Training and Capability Development • Identify and facilitate training initiatives to enhance personal and team capability, ensure ongoing learning, and keep abreast of regulatory and industry developments.
  7. Culture, Values, and Knowledge Sharing • Promote Nedbank's Vision and Values by building a culture of compliance, sharing expertise, supporting social responsibility initiatives, and fostering collaborative stakeholder relationships.
  8. Continuous Improvement and Value Creation • Identify opportunities to improve risk management controls, recommend enhancements, and implement effective ways to strengthen governance and add value across the Group.
Essential Qualifications
  • B Comm/ Relevant law degree
  • Honour's Degree
Minimum Experience
  • 5-8 years people management experience
  • 5 years' experience in Risk Management of AML, CFT and Sanctions and Exchange Control.
