Job summary

BMA, a Cape Town-based firm, is seeking a consultant to drive value chain excellence and sector development across industries such as Automotive, Chemicals, Clothing, Furniture and Agri-processing. You will work in a high-performance team focused on growth, competitiveness and sustainability in manufacturing.

The role emphasizes strategy, analysis, stakeholder engagement and hands-on execution, with flexible working options across home, office or client sites.

Qualifications

  • Honours degree (4 year) in an analytical or quantitative discipline.
  • 2–3 years relevant consulting experience.
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, quantify and present opportunities for value chain growth or upgrading based on client needs, data and best practices.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder, cross-functional engagements to present opportunities and interventions.
  • Set projects up with SMART objectives, risk management and monitoring & evaluation.
  • Delegate or execute initiatives—facilitating strategy sessions, presenting findings, building business cases, dashboards or process improvements.
  • Analyse value chain or sector performance data against objectives and interventions.
  • Conceptualise and implement change management frameworks to secure stakeholder commitment.
  • Oversee programme budgets, resources and tasks for timely, within-budget delivery.
  • Problem-solve in unstructured environments using lateral thinking.

The Role

You’ll work on value chain excellence programmes and sector development initiatives across industries such as:

  • Automotive
  • Chemicals
  • Clothing
  • Furniture
  • Agri-processing

Clients range from major manufacturers and retailers to government agencies and public-private partnerships.

You’ll collaborate in a high-performance team focused on growth, competitiveness and sustainability in manufacturing.

What You’ll Do
  • Identify, quantify and present opportunities for value chain growth or upgrading based on client needs, available data and global best practices.
  • Facilitate multi-stakeholder, cross-functional engagements to present and evaluate these opportunities and explore potential interventions to realise them.
  • Set projects up for success with SMART objectives, risk identification and robust monitoring & evaluation mechanisms.
  • Delegate or execute chosen initiatives efficiently and effectively, whether it be facilitating a strategy session, presenting key findings, modelling a business case, building a dashboard, optimising a process flow or researching global best practice.
  • Analyse value chain or sector performance data in line with agreed objectives and interventions.
  • Conceptualise, delegate and/or execute effective change management frameworks and processes to ensure commitment from a variety of busy stakeholders.
  • Oversee programme budgets, resources and tasks to ensure smooth, impactful execution on time and within budget.
  • Problem-solve in unstructured environments where the diagnosis and solution may not be clear and lateral thinking is required.

Requirements
