Job summary

JVR Software in Gauteng is seeking a senior cost accountant to own standard costing, cost roll methods, and inventory valuation for manufacturing.

You will validate BOMs, routings, reconcile WIP, oversee stock counts, analyze variances, and support make-versus-buy decisions. 5–8 years costing experience, strong costing knowledge, ERP experience (SYSPRO) and advanced Excel required; mining experience a plus.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years’ costing experience in a manufacturing environment, including standard costing and inventory valuation.
• Strong knowledge of standard and actual costing, overhead absorption, variance analysis and inventory valuation.
• Hands-on ERP experience (SYSPRO an advantage) and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Own the standard cost roll and costing methods for all manufacturing processes, and cost new and non-standard products.
• Validate new and changed bills of material and routings before release, and maintain overhead recovery rates.
• Reconcile inventory, WIP and goods in transit to the general ledger at every month-end.
• Oversee stock counts, investigate variances, and manage slow-moving and obsolete stock provisions.
• Validate import and landed-cost inputs into inventory and standard costs.
• Analyse actual production costs against standard each month and explain what caused the variances.
• Support make-versus-buy and local-versus-offshore cost comparisons, and provide product and customer margin analysis for pricing.
• Identify cost-reduction opportunities, act as finance’s ERP super-user for inventory and costing, and help automate recurring checks.

Minimum requirements

• CIMA (CGMA) qualified


• BCom Accounting, BCom Cost & Management Accounting or an equivalent degree


• 5–8 years’ costing experience in a manufacturing environment, including standard costing and inventory valuation


• Strong knowledge of standard and actual costing, overhead absorption, variance analysis and inventory valuation


• Hands-on ERP experience (SYSPRO an advantage) and advanced Excel

Advantageous

• Experience in a mining or mining-supply environment


• SQL or Power BI


• Experience with multi-entity, imported or international cost bases


• A track record of improving processes, and practical use of AI-enabled tools
