Large and well-established group in the agriculture sector is seeking a motivated and experienced Management Accountant. This group operates across the country, and the role will be based in Port Elizabeth.

This is an excellent opportunity for candidates who have completed SAIPA, SAICA, CIMA articles with post-article experience to gain further experience and contribute to a thriving industry. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of accounting and finance experience, with post-articles experience being highly advantageous. Commercial or article exposure within agriculture, citrus, processing, or production environments will be highly beneficial.

The incumbent will support the packhouses and farms by ensuring the effective implementation of appropriate financial control systems and accounting procedures. Ensuring all systems within the relevant business units comply with financial governance, accounting standards, and organizational policies and procedures.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly management accounts and reports.
• Ensure transactions are supported by appropriate documentation and are captured accurately and timely.
• Maintain the integrity of accounting records by adhering to policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Manage the packhouse and farm balance sheets and books.
• Stay updated with legislation and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Advise financial managers and officers on updated regulations.
• Upload all bank payments for packhouses and farms in the region.
• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) in financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with vendor onboarding processes.
• Reconcile all transactions for packhouses and farms in the region.
• Distribute financial management reports.
• Review and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Assist with preparations for annual audits of farms and packhouses in the region.
• Prepare and complete internal cost audits for regional packhouses and farms.
• Identify and recommend cost-effective solutions for the region.
• Follow internal controls and maintain financial security.
• Analyze costs and recommend cost-saving methods.
• Complete and submit VAT returns.
• Maintain an accessible and organized finance filing system for quick document retrieval.
• Perform ad hoc duties and tasks as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Completed SAIPA, SAICA, or CIMA articles preferred.
• PA(SA), CGMA, ACMA (CIMA), or related designation is a positive.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
• Proficiency in MS Excel is essential.
• Experience in agriculture, citrus, processing, manufacturing, or production environments is beneficial.
• ERP experience with Navision, Pastel, Business Central, or similar systems is a bonus.

Remuneration:

• R360,000 to R480,000 per annum CTC.
