Our client is a South African pharmaceutical benefits management (PBM) organization and specializes in electronic claims processing and the management of medicine benefits. They are looking for a Management Accountant to join their team.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Responsible for providing financial information, insights, and guidance to management to facilitate decision-making, financial control, and planning. Ensures accurate financial reporting and analysis while adhering to organizational and regulatory standards.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis

• Conduct cost-benefit analysis.
• Monitor actual vs. budget/forecast performance.
• Monthly variance analysis.
• Management of general ledger and reconciliation processes.
• Analyse trends, variances, and risks for business decision-making.
• Preparation of management and financial reports (FD report).

Accounts Payable and Pharmacy Management

• Management of Accounts payable and bank releases.
• Pharmacy payment reconciliations weekly.

Cost Management and Efficiency

• Cost management.
• Asset management and depreciation.
• Identify areas for efficiency improvement.
• Monthly VAT returns.

Reporting

• Ensure timely and accurate financial and operational reporting to stakeholders.
• BBBEE reporting for audits.
• Ad hoc reporting requests.

Budgeting and Forecasting

• Assist in annual budget preparation and forecasting.

Support with Strategic Planning & Decision-making

• Collaborate with leadership to align financial strategies with organizational goals.
• Provide insights and recommendations for business decisions based on financial data.
• Assist with scenario planning and risk assessments.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or equivalent related field
• Post Graduate Degree/Diploma in Finance (advantageous)
• Professional certification (e.g. SAICA, SAIPA, CPA, ACCA, CIMA) (advantageous)

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

• 5+ years experience in management accounting and financial planning
• Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Experience in cost management, financial reporting, and cost analysis
• Experience in financial systems, tools, and business improvement initiatives (advantageous)
• Experience in ERP systems or advanced financial modeling tools (advantageous)
