Under the supervision of the Breast Imaging Manager and Medical Director, the Mammography Technologist Trainee will observe and learn how to perform diagnostic mammographic imaging, assist with quality control, and support procedures like stereotactic biopsies. They will gain hands-on experience with digital and DBT imaging while ensuring patient education, preparation, and confidentiality. The trainee will also learn proper sterile techniques, assist radiologists as needed, and rotate across UCLA Health radiology locations. Candidates must be current or recent graduates of a Radiologic Technology Training program and demonstrate a willingness to develop essential technical and patient care skills.

Our ideal candidate will be currently enrolled or a recent graduate from a Radiologic Technology program.

Salary Range: $38.05 Hourly

Qualifications
  • BCLS certificate from American Heart Association or American Red Cross - required
  • Current or Recent graduate from a Radiologic Technology program - required
  • Ability to accept and carry out oral and written instructions accurately
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively and diplomatically communicate with patients, visitors, hospital staff, physicians, and other outside offices both in person and over the phone
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, with the ability to distinguish between types of procedures within the assigned department(s) and medical diagnoses
  • Ability to adapt to technological advancements and changing equipment
  • Ability to identify and recognize contraindications for exams (Radiology Only)
  • Ability to respond efficiently to the needs of referring services, physicians, and patients
  • Skill in employing independent decision-making while performing various job functions
  • Good telephone manners and skills to handle heavy lines with courtesy and tact
  • Understanding of EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act) requirements
