Maintenance Technician | The Silo Hotel

The Maintenance Technician at The Silo Hotel works closely with the Maintenance Manager to ensure that all hotel maintenance requirements are met and maintained at the highest Royal Portfolio standards. This role is vital in supporting the hotel's mission to provide guests with a complete experience and a perfect stay.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Ensure that daily maintenance operations align with company standards and management directives.
2. Perform maintenance checks in all arrival rooms as per the maintenance checklist.
3. Inspect public areas for maintenance issues.
4. Check that all hotel equipment requiring attention is functioning properly.
5. Maintain appropriate stock levels of maintenance supplies.
6. Verify the accuracy of all maintenance orders received.
7. Report any damages or issues to management and the maintenance manager immediately.
8. Provide thorough handovers verbally and in writing every morning and afternoon.
9. Ensure a safe and secure working environment within the maintenance department and throughout the hotel.
10. Assist in training new staff and ensure they understand their roles.
11. Lead by example in appearance and personal hygiene; ensure maintenance staff present themselves professionally in uniform.
12. Coordinate with other departments, especially F&B, Front Office, and Kitchen, to communicate relevant maintenance matters.

REQUIREMENTS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

1. Minimum of 2 years experience in a luxury hotel environment.
2. Previous maintenance experience is required.
3. Electrical and HVAC experience is essential.
4. Well-presented, professional, enthusiastic, and energetic.
5. Excellent communication skills in English (verbal, written, reading).
6. Punctual, reliable, mature, and proactive.
7. Team-oriented with respect for colleagues.
8. Positive attitude and highly responsive.
9. Understanding and alignment with The Royal Portfolio's Purpose and Values.

It is important that candidates are team players and culturally fit with The Royal Portfolio. South African citizenship is advantageous; a valid work permit is required if not in possession of a South African ID. All staff must undergo a pre-employment polygraph test as a condition of employment.
