- Difficult local LPG market with influx of rogue operators, leading to issues such as HSEQ concerns and Cylinder Management.
- Abuse of equipment by customers resulting in frequent callouts.
- Manpower and budget constraints affecting development and project work.
- High turnover of client staff increases incident risk and necessitates frequent training.
- Lack of experienced LPG maintenance contractors.
- Lack of in-house technical staff.
Activities
HEALTH AND SAFETY
To effectively manage and minimise risks associated with depot operations by ensuring:
- Compliance with all HSE policies, rules, guidelines, and legal requirements within your area of responsibility.
- Promotion of a safe working environment and positive contribution to the company's HSE KPI's and risk reduction strategies.
- Assistance to regional depots with technical non-conformances related to One Maestro.
- Performing maintenance work safely, on time, and to required standards and quality (referencing Sans regulations).
Key results include:
- Documenting client site inspections and breakdowns with supporting photos, and forwarding reports immediately to the Senior Maintenance Engineer/Engineer/Planner for record keeping.
- Timely action on customer queries as per SharePoint log, maintaining regional open queries to less than 10 and not older than 2 weeks.
- Action depot non-conformances within allocated timelines.
- Ensuring planned maintenance for clients and depots complies with legislative, OEM, and best practices frequency requirements.
- Regular inspection of Totalgaz installations (at least annually) and reporting non-conformances.
- Proper storage of recovered assets, new, and revalidated equipment.
- Maintaining good store and workshop management by keeping housekeeping and storage orderly.
- Liaising with suppliers and contractors regarding maintenance spares and work performed on depots and installations.
- Procuring and installing correct equipment for maintenance work.
- Assisting with technical training of staff and clients on Totalgaz filling depots.
- Submitting monthly reports (vehicle km, inspections, tools, overtime, outstanding works) by the 7th of each month.
Candidate Profile
- National Diploma, S4, N4-6 in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or completed a trade test (red seal) in these fields.
- Registered or in the process of registering as an industrial maintenance technician with LPGASA (Electrical qualification advantageous).
- Minimum of 3 years experience in the petroleum industry, preferably LPG.
- Strong knowledge of unit operations such as cylinder manifolds, vaporisers, storage tanks, fittings, LPG pumps.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation impacting Operations and HSEQ functions, including OHS Act and SANS regulations.
