Placements24 is seeking a Maintenance Technician with Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) expertise for our Mahikeng, North West facility. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems, control panels, and instrumentation to minimize downtime and uphold safety standards.

You will troubleshoot faults, read schematics and P&IDs, calibrate devices, and support commissioning and preventative maintenance while collaborating with production and engineering teams.

Formación

• Trade qualification in electrical or instrumentation or equivalent experience.
• Industrial electrical and instrumentation maintenance experience.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and P&IDs.

Responsabilidades

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, control systems, and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation faults using diagnostic tools.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and manuals.
• Calibrate and test instrumentation devices (pressure transmitters, temp sensors, flow meters).
• Ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety regulations.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities and parts used.
• Assist with commissioning of new equipment and systems.
• Participate in preventative maintenance programs.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as required.
• Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address issues.

About the Role

Our client, a significant player in the industrial manufacturing sector, is seeking a skilled and diligent Maintenance Technician with expertise in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) systems. This position is based at their facility in Mahikeng, North West, ZA , and requires a hands-on approach to maintaining the integrity and functionality of plant equipment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems, control panels, instrumentation, and associated hardware. Ensuring minimal downtime and upholding the highest safety standards are paramount. You will work as part of a dedicated maintenance team, contributing to the overall reliability and efficiency of our operations. We are looking for a technically adept individual with a strong understanding of industrial E&I principles and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical equipment, control systems, and instrumentation.
• Troubleshoot electrical and instrumentation faults using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, P&IDs, and technical manuals.
• Perform calibration and functional testing of instrumentation devices (e.g., pressure transmitters, temperature sensors, flow meters).
• Ensure all work complies with electrical codes, safety regulations, and company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders and parts used.
• Assist with the commissioning of new equipment and systems.
• Participate in preventative maintenance programs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
• Respond to emergency maintenance calls as required.
• Work collaboratively with production and engineering teams to address technical issues.

Requirements

• Trade qualification (e.g., Electrician, Instrumentation Technician) or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience in industrial electrical and instrumentation maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, control circuits, PLCs, and industrial instrumentation.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and P&IDs.
• Proficiency with diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and calibration equipment.
• Understanding of safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Good problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication skills.
• Willingness to work shifts and respond to call-outs as needed.
