Job description

KONE is looking for qualified Maintenance Technicians in Durban, South Africa.

Our team comprises maintenance professionals who provide on-site customer service to ensure the smooth and safe operation of our equipment. We seek a service-minded Maintenance Technician to deliver professional elevator and escalator maintenance services.

In this role, you will be a key part of KONE — an everyday hero making people's lives easier. Your responsibilities include ensuring quality service, improving equipment safety and performance, and maintaining regular, proactive communication with customers and end-users.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure customer satisfaction through quality service and proactive on-site communication.
  • Provide accurate, real-time reporting of work performed.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with customers, contact persons, and end-users.
  • Manage the site environment during service operations.
  • Identify site risks and communicate them promptly.
  • Perform unplanned service repairs as needed, with prior approval if outside the contract scope.
  • Manage PAR stock levels, including inventory and stock transfers, and issue replenishment orders timely.
  • Submit timesheets based on work completed.

Skills & Experience:

  • Experience as a Maintenance Technician.
  • Qualifications may include:
  • Red Seal trade test certificate for a lift mechanic.
  • Completed NQF level 4 certification with an apprenticeship (minimum 4 years).
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Diploma/Degree with at least 12 months of shadowing a qualified lift mechanic.
  • NQF level 5 certification with at least 12 months of shadowing a qualified lift mechanic.
  • Good communication skills and basic IT skills.
