Main Purpose of the Job

We are seeking a technically skilled and proactive Field Services Technician to join our team. The role involves the accurate installation, maintenance, and repair of advanced electronic systems on mine sites. The candidate should be comfortable working independently in high-pressure environments and committed to providing excellent on-site customer service.

Education, Experience, and Competencies

  • Grade 12 (Matric)
  • Qualified Artisan (Red Seal Electrician or Automotive Electrician)
  • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in electronic system installation and repair
  • Own transport and valid driver’s license
  • Medically fit for surface and underground mine environments
  • Strong understanding of electronic wiring, control boxes, CAN Bus systems, and field diagnostics

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission, and maintain collision avoidance and proximity detection systems
  • Diagnose faults and perform on-site electronic repairs
  • Conduct system surveys and safety inspections pre- and post-installation
  • Create and submit technical reports, service logs, and Certificates of Compliance (COCs)
  • Provide remote and in-field technical support
  • Ensure compliance with all mine-specific and occupational safety standards
  • Respond promptly to failures and breakdowns
  • Support engineering teams with testing and system improvements
