Job description

Well established company based in Western Cape, Cape Town is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join their team.

POSITION INFO : Requirements :

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a plastic production environment
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in faultfinding and process control
  • PLC programming certificate
  • Wireman’s licence would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team
  • Self-disciplined and motivated
  • Proactive and enthusiastic
  • Own transport and driver’s license essential
  • Overtime and standby may be required
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to identify and resolve equipment issues (problem-solving skills)

Responsibilities :

  • Assist the production department in achieving optimal efficiencies by attending to machinery and equipment maintenance, repair, and servicing
  • Handle electrical and pneumatic requirements for new machinery installation
  • Assist with troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed
  • Stay informed about and assist with technical developments and improvements where cost-effective
  • Be on standby as required
  • Maintain good interdepartmental relations
  • Practice good housekeeping and safety standards
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot control devices such as thermostats, timers, switches, pressure gauges, and flowmeters
  • Design and analyze industrial control systems to meet safety and performance requirements
  • Monitor and adjust equipment to maintain optimal performance
  • Install electrical wiring for control devices and equipment
  • Maintain and repair electrical and pneumatic control panels and technical equipment
  • Install, maintain, and replace industrial machinery and plant equipment
  • Handle electronic components like resistors, capacitors, relays, transistors, diodes, and transformers
  • Test and calibrate equipment for proper operation
  • Research and develop new technologies or improve existing equipment
  • Experience in injection and compression moulding fields is advantageous
  • Knowledge of PLCs, AC/DC drives, and electronics
  • Experience in programming drives and PLCs
