Job summary

KONE in Cape Town is seeking a service-minded Maintenance Technician to deliver professional elevator and escalator maintenance on-site, ensuring safety and reliability of equipment and supporting customers with clear communication. You will perform planned and unplanned service, report work in real time, and uphold strong relationships with customers and end-users.

The role requires relevant technical qualifications and excellent teamwork in a busy service environment.

Qualifications

• Good communication skills with basic IT proficiency.
• NQF Level 4 with an apprenticeship (minimum 4 years).
• Electrical/Mechanical Engineering diploma/degree with 12 months shadowing a lift mechanic.
• NQF Level 5 certification with 12 months shadowing a lift mechanic.
• Red seal trade test certificate or lift mechanic qualification.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for customer satisfaction through quality of service and regular, proactive, and precise on-site communication.
• Responsible for accurate and real-time back reporting of work performed.
• Maintain excellent relationships with customers, the contact person, and end-users on-site.
• Manage the site environment during service operations.
• Identification of site risks and timely communication of any such occurrences.
• Identifying “unplanned” service repairs based on the equipment needs, contacting the on-site contact person, getting approval if not covered by the contract, and performing them.
• Management of PAR stock levels (shelving, inventory, stock transfer) and timely issuance of replenishment orders.
• Submit time sheets based on the execution.

We are now looking for a service-minded Maintenance Technician to provide professional elevator and escalator maintenance service to our customers. You will work towards ensuring quality service, improving equipment safety and performance, as well as promoting regular and proactive on-site communication with customers and the people using the equipment.

Skills & Experience:

• One or more of the following qualifications: Red seal trade test certificate, lift mechanic;
• Completed NQF level 4 certification with an apprenticeship program (minimum 4 years);
• Completed Electrical/Mechanical Engineer Diploma/Degree with completion of at least 12 months shadowing a competent lift mechanic;
• Completed NQF level 5 certification with completion of at least 12 months shadowing a competent lift mechanic;
• Good communication skills with basic IT skills.
