What are we looking for?

We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Maintenance Technical Assistant who can support our maintenance team by ensuring equipment and facilities run smoothly, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment."

What do we expect from the candidate?

Problem-Solving – Quickly identifying and fixing issues. Attention to Detail – Spotting small faults before they become major problems. Adaptability – Handling unexpected maintenance challenges. Teamwork & Communication – Collaborating with technicians and reporting issues clearly. Time Management – Prioritizing tasks efficiently to minimize downtime.

The key responsibilities :

• Perform hot work tasks such as welding and torch cutting.
• Perform cold work including drilling, tapping, modifying, and assembling components.
• Repair and maintain air pumps, pipe systems, and carry out pipe fitting and plumbing tasks.
• Assist in workshop tasks and support fabrication requirements for ongoing projects.
• Conduct routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on machinery and equipment.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair equipment failures to minimize downtime.
• Ensure preventative maintenance is completed according to the maintenance schedule
• Assist in the installation, servicing, commissioning, and repair of new and existing equipment.
• Assist with the execution and commissioning of project plans.
• Complete and submit job cards promptly after task completion.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, including any recurring issues.
• Actively contribute to team discussions and provide constructive input to improve operations.
• Operate basic tools and machinery safely and effectively.
• Ensure tools are properly maintained and used in accordance with safety protocols.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including 5S and lean practices (training to be provided).
• Adhere to health and safety regulations by reporting unsafe conditions, equipment defects, and unsafe acts immediately.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment.
• Follow all safety procedures and company guidelines.
• Application of problem-solving tools and techniques (training to be completed).
• Implementation and practice of 5S workplace organisation (training to be completed).

Must-Have :

• Grade 12 (Matric).
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience in manufacturing industry.
• Computer Literate in Microsoft applications.
• Chemical industry experience would be advantageous.
