Job title: Maintenance Supervisor: Mechanical & Facilities

MAIN PURPOSE
- The primary responsibility will be to deploy the maintenance team operationally in the plant to repair breakdowns, improve equipment reliability, and optimize maintenance quality.
- This role will play a crucial part in ensuring the plant operates efficiently, minimizes downtime, and effectively allocates resources to contribute to the profitability of the company.
- Maximize plant performance at reduced costs on a 24/7-hour operation and satisfy the identified needs of the production plants.
Qualification and Experience
- N4 or equivalent
- Qualified and trade tested mechanically
- BTech Mechanical or equivalent (advantageous)
- Minimum 5 years supervisory experience in an engineering or a similar role in an industrial setting
- Production / Manufacturing background (advantageous)
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Artisan Performance:
- Effectively deploy artisans to expedite the repair of plant breakdowns.
- Conduct thorough quality assessments on equipment repairs and ensure timely closure of job cards.
- Cultivate, motivate, and lead teams to achieve optimal performance and productivity.
Root Cause Analysis:
- Investigate breakdowns and equipment failures to identify root causes.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective solutions to prevent recurrence.
Maintenance Optimization:
- Work closely with maintenance teams to develop, implement, and refine maintenance strategies that align with industry best practices to minimize downtime.
- Monitor and analyze maintenance processes to identify areas for improvement.
Predictive Maintenance:
- Assist the Reliability Supervisor in implementing predictive maintenance techniques, including vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis, to proactively identify potential issues and mitigate risks.
Quality:
- Implement and enforce housekeeping practices to uphold a high standard of work quality.
- Lead daily discussions on performance and safety to analyze equipment performance, identify trends, and enhance plant reliability.
Spare Parts Management:
- Collaborate with procurement and inventory teams to ensure the availability of critical spare parts, thereby minimizing equipment downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of spare parts usage and inventory levels.
Employee Management and Development:
- Ensure compliance with relevant procedures and policies across the team.
- Define clear job profiles for all team members and regularly review goals to assess achievement of results.
- Provide ongoing support, coaching, and mentoring to ensure objectives are met.
- Develop individual development plans for each employee to support their career growth.
- Allocate resources effectively to meet operational demands.
- Communicate team events and activities effectively to ensure everyone is informed.
- Ensure adequate succession planning to meet ongoing and anticipated business needs.

- Report all safety incidents to the relevant people.
