Introduction
Mintek has an exciting career opportunity for a Maintenance Senior Planner. The candidate will be responsible for the planning office and providing maintenance and project planning services to Mintek Campus, including work planning and scheduling, budget monitoring, labour planning, and reporting. The role also involves providing support as an ERP user within CMS. Mintek invites all suitably qualified candidates to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning: Schedule activities considering the requirements of different engineering disciplines (electrical, mechanical, facilities, projects). Monitor artisan activities to ensure proper work specifications and timely execution. Sequence work schedules to prevent delays. Manage manufacturing drawings and coordinate with relevant sections. Notify relevant personnel about warranties and supplier evaluations. Communicate planned maintenance activities to end users.
- Resource Management: Ensure the planning office is adequately staffed and workload is balanced. Optimize resource utilization, minimize idle time and wastage. Plan for sufficient resources, including materials, spares, and skills, to complete maintenance within scheduled timeframes. Ensure billable hours are recorded in SAP.
- Reporting: Review and update maintenance plans regularly, considering resource availability and priorities. Interpret SAP PM data to generate reports on resource utilization, maintenance effectiveness, and schedule compliance. Provide ad-hoc reports to management as needed.
- Procurement: Collaborate with Finance to ensure correct and timely ordering from vendors. Prepare cost estimates and quotations for projects. Assist in procurement by defining specifications and identifying suitable suppliers. Detail project scopes and prepare cost estimates for clients. Use OEM specifications, SANAS codes, and statutory requirements to create maintenance tasks for new assets.
- Process Improvement: Investigate current processes and implement initiatives to enhance efficiency within the planning office and CMS workflow. Analyze SAP PM data to determine MTBF and MTTR for new assets, aiming to improve reliability and reduce costs.
- Health and Safety: Identify hazards and mitigation measures related to work activities. Ensure statutory compliance for the facility and related processes.
- Other: Liaise with internal clients regarding maintenance issues affecting their plant and equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Maintenance Management.
- Trade Test Certificate (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a planner in a multi-discipline maintenance environment.
- At least 5 years of experience with computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS) planning and scheduling; 7 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with waterfall planning systems, project tracking, and quantity surveying is essential.
