Introduction
Mintek has an exciting career opportunity for a Maintenance Senior Planner.
The candidate will be responsible for the planning office and providing maintenance and project planning services to Mintek Campus, which involves work planning and scheduling, budget monitoring, labour planning, and reporting.
They will also provide support as an ERP user within CMS.
Responsibilities
Planning
- Schedule activities considering the requirements of different engineering disciplines such as electrical, mechanical, facilities, and projects.
- Monitor and supervise artisan activities to ensure work specifications are detailed and execution is timely.
- Sequence work schedules to eliminate delays.
- Ensure manufacturing drawings are correctly received and issued within CMS.
- Notify Heads and Senior Technicians about warranty statuses and supplier evaluations.
- Communicate planned maintenance activities to end-users promptly.
Resource Management
- Ensure the planning office is adequately staffed and workload is balanced.
- Optimize resource employment, minimize idle time and wastage.
- Plan resources effectively to complete maintenance within allocated time, considering materials, spares, and skills.
- Capture billable hours on SAP.
Reporting
- Review maintenance plans regularly, considering resource availability and priorities.
- Interpret SAP PM data to generate reports on resource utilization, maintenance effectiveness, and schedule compliance.
- Generate ad-hoc reports for management.
Procurement
- Collaborate with Finance to ensure correct and timely ordering from vendors.
- Cost projects and provide quotations.
- Assist in equipment procurement by specifying requirements and identifying suppliers.
- Detail project scope for quotations and estimate costs using technical expertise.
- Create maintenance tasks based on OEM specifications, SANAS codes, and statutory requirements.
Process Improvement
- Investigate and implement process improvements to enhance workflow and efficiency.
- Use SAP PM data to analyze asset reliability and optimize maintenance plans.
Health and Safety
- Identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
- Ensure statutory compliance for the facility.
Other
Liaise with internal clients regarding maintenance issues affecting their plant and equipment.
Qualifications and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Maintenance Management.
- Trade Test Certificate (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years experience as a planner in a multidisciplinary maintenance environment.
- At least 5 years of CMMS planning and scheduling experience; 7 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- High proficiency in Excel.
- Experience with waterfall planning systems, project tracking, and quantity surveying is crucial.
