Job summary

Samancor Chrome is seeking a maintenance and control systems specialist to support safety, health, environment and quality standards on site. Responsibilities include risk assessment, fault finding, SAP PM feedback, and coordination of planned maintenance for instrumentation and control systems.

The role requires hands-on experience with PLC/SCADA, instrumentation, and electrical/mechanical maintenance in a production environment, with collaboration across teams and potential standby duties.

Qualifications

• Experience with PLC/SCADA and control systems.
• Knowledge of instrumentation control basics and safety.
• Flexibility to operate in a heavy industry environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assess risks and implement control measures.
• Complete work orders, create notifications and provide feedback in SAP PM.
• Coordinate planned maintenance activities and inspect plant equipment.
• Maintain and repair instrumentation, electrical and mechanical components.
• Design and maintain control system drawings and software.
• Support capital projects and drive continuous improvement.

• Identify and assess level of continuous risk exposures in area of responsibility by considering exposures to business, financial, legal issues, people, equipment, material, environment, processes, etc.
• Consider the level of risk, apply mitigation and implement control measures for residual risk (set objectives, minimum requirements, etc.)
• Comply with SHEQ requirements (SHEQ Toolbox)
• Utilise the Integrated Management System (IMS) to initiate, investigate and report SHEQ status us
