Job summary

Radisson Hotel Group is seeking a Maintenance Plumber and General Hotel Maintenance to perform plumbing installation, repairs and maintenance across all hotel areas, upholding brand standards, guest safety and aesthetic quality while minimizing room downtime.

Responsibilities include regular checks on pipes, drains, heat pumps and pumps, fixing clogs, servicing water heaters, maintaining stock, and assisting with multi-skilled tasks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years maintenance experience in plumbing, preferably in hotels, resorts, or commercial sites.
• Matric/Grade 12 or NQF Level 4; trade certificate advantageous.
• Proven experience in new plumbing installations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular checks on pipes, drains, heat pumps, pumps and fixtures to catch leaks or failures early.
• Swiftly resolve plumbing issues in guest rooms and public areas such as clogged toilets, low water pressure, broken or burst pipes and fittings.
• Monitor and service water heaters and circulation pumps.
• Ensure all work adheres to plumbing, safety and hygiene standards.
• Assist other trades with multi-skilled tasks and maintain stock of tiles, adhesives, grout and tools.

Maintenance Plumber and General Hotel Maintenance

To carry out Plumbing installation, repairs, and maintenance across all hotel areas to uphold brand standards, guest safety, and aesthetic quality while minimizing room downtime.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct regular checks on pipes, drains, heat pumps, pumps and fixtures to catch leaks or failures early.
• Swiftly resolve plumbing issues in guest rooms and public areas such as clogged toilets, low water pressure, broken or burst pipes and fittings.
• Monitor and service water heaters and circulation pumps
• Ensure all work adheres to plumbing, safety and hygiene standards
• Pipe fitting and joining PVC, copper, or PEX
• Safe handling of plumbing hand and power tools

General Maintenance Support

• Assist other trades with multi-skilled tasks: patch plastering, painting touch-ups, silicone sealing
• Erect scaffolding/ladders safely and comply with working-at-height procedures
• Respond to guest room callouts for urgent tile hazards that impact safety or room salability
• Keep work areas clean, protect guest areas, and minimize noise during working hours.

Stock & Workshop Control

• Maintain stock of tiles, adhesives, grout, sealants, and tools
• Advise procurement on quantities, shade batches, and lead times for project work
• Care for tools: wet saws, grinders, mixers. Report faults immediately
• Dispose of rubble and hazardous materials per hotel and municipal regulations

Technical Skills

• Piping and conduit installation
• Drainage and backflow system servicing
• Leak detection and sealing
• Planned preventative maintenance
• Strong attention to detail and quality of finish - guest-facing work
• Ability to work under pressure with rooms back in service same day
• Good time management and ability to work in occupied hotels with minimal disruption
• Physically fit: lifting, kneeling, working in confined spaces.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Matric/Grade 12 or NQF Level 4 (trade certificate advantageous)
• 3+ years maintenance experience in plumbing, preferably in hotels, resorts, or commercial sites
• Proven experience in new plumbing installations
• General knowledge of hotel maintenance not related to trade
