Job summary

A leading healthcare group is seeking a Maintenance Planner to ensure the effective maintenance of assets at the hospital. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating maintenance work, ensuring reliability, and reducing maintenance costs while enhancing operational facilities. Candidates must hold an N6/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering and possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a relevant operational role. The ideal candidate will also exhibit strong problem-solving and communication skills, with experience in a healthcare environment being highly advantageous.

Qualifications

• Computer literacy; experience with CMMS is advantageous.

Job description

A vacancy exists for a Maintenance Planner based at Life Groenkloof Hospital, reporting to the Engineering Manager. This role aims to ensure well-maintained assets and workforce productivity by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through planning and coordination of workforce, parts, and equipment access.

Critical Outputs

• Assist maintenance personnel in balancing daily output needs with equipment reliability and facility maintenance through proactive planning.
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate all planned maintenance work within the facility.
• Ensure timely, efficient, and quality service to internal beneficiaries of maintenance.
• Maintain plant and equipment reliability through sound preventive maintenance.
• Provide a central source of information on maintenance work, equipment, and repairs.
• Identify and provide special tools and equipment requirements.
• Reduce maintenance costs while improving equipment condition and operational facilities.
• Organize and administer resources effectively to execute corrective maintenance and minimize backlog.
• Manage scheduled legal maintenance to avoid backlog, advising the Engineering Manager accordingly.
• Collaborate with maintenance personnel to anticipate repairs before emergencies occur.
• Assist with root cause analysis of equipment failures and document incidents properly.
• Regularly evaluate the quality of maintenance planning, recording, and archiving in line with ISO standards.
• Maintain positive relationships with suppliers and service providers.

Requirements

• At least N6/Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 3 years' experience in operations or maintenance.
• Practical experience in a hospital or similar environment is essential.
• Computer literacy; experience with a CMMS, preferably SAP PM, is advantageous.
