What We Are Looking For
PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
Managing and coordinating the maintenance and repair functions to increase machine availability.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Manage the Mechanical maintenance and service functions in coordination with artisans to ensure that equipment, facilities, and buildings are always operational and compliant.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Report to the Mechanical Supervisor during the day shift. (Maintenance manager may assign electrical/mechanical supervisors to attend to RDM or shift teams at their discretion.)
- Ensure all Mechanical Preventative Maintenance (PM) schedules meet OEM standards and are recorded in the PRM system.
- Complete all electrical and mechanical PMs to work standards and record them accordingly.
- Review, update, and correct mechanical engineering drawings as necessary.
- Maintain fabrication standards by assigned staff.
- Manage Capex and budget control.
- Recruit, guide, train, monitor, and discipline employees as required.
- Plan and prepare work and equipment usage schedules.
- Develop mechanical expenditure priorities for equipment.
- Develop, refine, and maintain mechanical maintenance procedures.
- Forecast mechanical material and labor requirements.
- Train employees on new work procedures.
- Provide information on modifications, work policies, safety regulations, electrical codes, and specifications.
- Review future building plans and inspect new buildings for compliance with mechanical codes and maintenance standards.
- Maintain all mechanical and electrical legislative documentation in collaboration with the electrical supervisor.
- Manage all routine site maintenance activities such as canteen, garden, building repairs, and cleaning.
What Qualifications You Should Have
Minimum Requirements:
- National Diploma or NQF level 6 in Mechanical Engineering.
- Qualified Artisan is advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Proficiency in English (written and reading).
