Job description

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the engineering and maintenance functions of the CRF, ensuring the delivery of high-quality technical solutions and minimizing plant downtime. This role involves leading a team of engineers and artisans, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and managing the maintenance of the factory and engineering projects. The Maintenance Manager will also be responsible for maintaining a high % uptime on site and proactively addressing potential breakdowns.

Educational and Professional Requirements :

Electrical Qualification; Master’s degree advantageous. Professional Engineering registration or Government Certificate of Competency (GCC). Proven experience with pumps, compressors, mills, boilers, and other critical equipment. Industry-relevant engineering experience. Knowledge of agile methodologies and project management tools. The role requires approximately 80% plant maintenance and 20% projects experience, with 30% hands-on work, 30% team management, and 30% planning/administration/spares management.

Responsibilities :

  1. Team Leadership and Development : Manage and mentor maintenance personnel, conduct performance evaluations, foster a culture of innovation and teamwork, identify skills gaps, and support recruitment and training.
  2. Project and Maintenance Management : Define project scope, coordinate with suppliers, plan resources, oversee technical solutions, monitor progress, develop maintenance strategies, and manage team performance using SMART KPIs.
  3. Operational Excellence : Minimize breakdowns through proactive maintenance, ensure high site uptime, oversee critical equipment, implement reliability strategies, and collaborate with HR on conflict resolution.
  4. Technical Expertise : Possess strong PLC knowledge (preferably Allan Bradley), apply technical skills to solve engineering challenges, stay updated with industry trends, and ensure OEM compliance.
  5. Safety and Compliance : Address safety risks, ensure legal compliance, uphold confidentiality, develop safety policies, and act as GMR 2 for the site.

Additional qualities include being highly organized, willing to work alternate weekends and holidays, demonstrating strong leadership and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and thriving in a fast-paced environment. The role also involves managing team productivity, developing policies, and continuous improvement of maintenance strategies.
