Job summary

Craven Cottage CC in Sandton is seeking a maintenance supervisor to lead and coordinate in-house and external teams. You will implement preventive maintenance for critical systems, supervise technicians, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance across guest areas, public spaces, and back-of-house facilities.

The role requires substantial hands-on maintenance experience, strong leadership, and the ability to manage budgets, schedules, and work orders efficiently in a hospitality setting.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 with hands-on maintenance experience.
• Minimum 5 years in maintenance with 2–3 years in supervision.
• Hospitality background preferred.

• Basic computer literacy for tracking work orders.

Responsibilities

Job description

Duties:

• Conduct routine checks of guest rooms, public lobbies, back-of-house facilities, and exterior grounds to identify and fix issues promptly.
• Develop and execute proactive maintenance schedules for critical systems like HVAC, plumbing, electrical networks, and elevators to minimize downtime.
• Supervise, train, and schedule internal maintenance technicians and janitorial staff, assigning daily workloads and emergency response tasks.
• Source, vet, and oversee external service providers and specialized contractors for major repairs, renovations, or specialized servicing.
• Manage departmental expenses, track spare parts inventories, order replacement supplies, and assist upper management with capital improvement planning.
• Ensure all facilities adhere strictly to local building codes, fire safety regulations, and occupational health standards.

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• At least 5 years of hands-on maintenance experience, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or management capacity (hospitality background preferred).
• Strong working proficiency in electrical systems, plumbing, carpentry, and HVAC troubleshooting.
• Technical trade certification, diploma, or degree in engineering or facilities management is a strong advantage.
• Exceptional problem-solving abilities, calm demeanour during emergencies, effective leadership, and basic computer literacy for tracking work orders.
