Job description

ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for developing a strategy for all maintenance undertaken throughout the various plants, ensuring that maintenance is performed according to world-class best practices. The role ensures plant availability, prevents value destruction, and supports and enhances production. Additionally, it aims to achieve maximum financial benefit from the plant’s capital expenditures, maintenance expenditures, production equipment, and fixed assets.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Manage and support maintenance services to ensure operational reliability.
  2. Provide regular performance reports to the Head of Operations.
  3. Ensure that maintenance plans developed by maintenance engineers meet the required standards and adhere to safety and regulatory requirements.
  4. Develop a maintenance budget aligned with production targets to ensure maximum profit.
  5. Provide technical solutions that ensure sustainability, balancing technical needs with capital expenditure.
  6. Develop policies and set standards for contractor appointments, report on progress, and provide technical input as needed.
  7. Manage the technical development of employees to ensure continuity and growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering – NQF level 5 (essential).
  • Government Certificate of Competency (essential).
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering – NQF level 7 (desirable).
  • MBA – NQF level 9 (desirable).

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in business management, planning, and financial oversight (essential).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in maintenance of large capital equipment in an industrial environment, such as large manufacturing (essential).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in personnel management, including hiring, supervision, and evaluation (desirable).
