Job summary

Ubuntu RM in Gauteng seeks a seasoned Maintenance Manager to lead the plant's maintenance function, drive reliability, and cut downtime. You will develop, implement, and manage preventative maintenance schedules, supervise artisans and assistants, and control spares, contractors and maintenance budgets, while ensuring compliance with the OHS Act and statutory inspections.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification in maintenance (Millwright, Fitter & Turner or Electrician).
• Minimum 10 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
• Experience with packaging, converting or printing equipment preferred.
• Sound knowledge of the OHS Act.
• Proficient in MS Office and CMMS/maintenance systems.

Responsibilities

• Take full responsibility for the maintenance function across the plant.

• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and pneumatic breakdowns.
• Supervise and develop the maintenance team of artisans and assistants.
• Manage spares inventory, critical spares and stock levels.
• Source and manage external contractors and service providers.
• Control the maintenance budget and approve related expenditure.
• Ensure compliance with the OHS Act and statutory inspections.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards and equipment history.
• Support the Production Manager on changeovers, installations and improvement projects.

Job description

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Take full responsibility for the maintenance function across the plant

• Minimise machine downtime and drive improvement in equipment reliability
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical and pneumatic breakdowns
• Manage, schedule and develop the maintenance team of artisans and assistants
• Manage the spares inventory, critical spares holding and stock levels
• Source and manage external contractors and service providers
• Control the maintenance budget and approve maintenance-related expenditure
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act and all statutory inspection requirements
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, job cards and equipment history
• Support the Production Manager on machine changeovers, installations and improvement projects

Minimum Requirements

• Trade Test qualification (Millwright, Fitter & Turner, or Electrician)
• N4 – N6 or equivalent qualification advantageous
• Minimum 10 years' maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment
• Minimum 5 years in a supervisory or management capacity
• Proven experience on production machinery — packaging, converting or printing equipment strongly preferred
• Sound working knowledge of the OHS Act
• Computer literate — MS Office and maintenance management systems
• Available to work every Saturday until 15:00
