Job summary

IntelliStaff in Johannesburg is seeking a Maintenance Manager to oversee the packaging plant's maintenance of all machinery and facilities at the Industria site. You will lead a team of artisans, drive uptime, and coordinate with production to minimize downtime.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification as Electrician, Fitter or Mechanician (Red Seal or equivalent).
• In-depth knowledge of packaging machinery and equipment.
• Strong fault-finding skills in mechanical/electrical systems.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the maintenance team to ensure efficient operation of plant equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults on packaging machinery.
• Maintain maintenance records including job cards and breakdown reports.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to minimize disruption.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.
• Oversee procurement and inventory of critical spares and tools.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions on recurring failures.
• Manage contractor relationships and outsourced maintenance where applicable.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff.

The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the maintenance activities of all plant machinery, equipment, and facilities within the packaging manufacturing plant. The incumbent must ensure optimal machine uptime, minimize breakdowns, and support continuous improvement in plant performance and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and lead the maintenance team, including artisans and assistants, to ensure the efficient operation of all plant equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize equipment downtime.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical, electrical, and technical faults on packaging machinery
• Maintain detailed maintenance records, including job cards, breakdown reports, and machine history.
• Coordinate with production and quality teams to prioritize maintenance activities with minimal disruption to operations.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
• Oversee the procurement and inventory of critical spares and tools.
• Implement cost-effective maintenance practices without compromising on safety or performance.
