Qualifications

• Computer literacy with experience in MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate maintenance activities and execute maintenance plans.
• Manage department costs and oversee stock usage and storage.
• Lead and advise the maintenance team and production coordination.

Job description

County Fair, a division of Astral Operations Limited, has an opportunity for a seasoned Maintenance Manager based at the Abattoir in Klipheuwel, Western Cape.

The overall purpose of the Maintenance Manager role is to coordinate, coach, and control maintenance teams in the production and process environment. The role involves providing technical advice to ensure maximum equipment availability and managing all aspects of the maintenance department (mechanical and electrical), including the Engineering Store. The incumbent must understand the Occupational Health and Safety Act and be willing to accept general machinery regulations 2.7 legal appointment.

Qualifications and Experience

• Completed Mechanical or Electrical qualification
• Qualified Artisan in the Engineering trade, preferably mechanical
• At least 5 years relevant experience in managerial/supervisory roles
• At least 5 years relevant poultry/abattoir experience
• Computer literacy with experience in MS Office
• Knowledge of planned & preventive maintenance programs
• Updated with trends and developments in HACCP, 20 Keys, and maintenance programs
• Ability to solve problems related to HACCP and 20 Keys
• Strong awareness of safety, health, and hygiene regulations

Responsibilities

Administration

• Coordinate maintenance activities and execute maintenance plans
• Manage department costs and oversee stock usage and storage
• Control overtime and manage leave schedules
• Facilitate the 20 Keys management system

Maintenance

• Coordinate planned and preventative maintenance with clear objectives and communication
• Monitor performance, evaluate deviations, and direct improvements
• Conduct weekly inspections ensuring safety and cleanliness
• Manage maintenance execution, job observations, and project monitoring

Operational / Functional

• Lead and advise the maintenance team and production coordination
• Identify and address competency gaps through training

Quality

• Ensure compliance with quality, risk management, and company systems such as 20 Keys
